Heartburn

Heartburn

“Be careful that’s hot!”
The words burn in my throat
when I would rather say …
I love you!
Instead
I warn you about the coffee.

It isn’t that I can’t say ..
I love you!
The reason I don’t say it,
is simple,
you wouldn’t believe me,
because you don’t think you are loveable.

So I play your game
and wait,
wait for the moment
you are willing to hear …
I love you!
