I think you have expressed some pretty universal feelings here. I like the honesty; nobody wants to admit to being jealous but your candor made this essay compelling. The essay grapples with some difficult, rather big questions. I like that it takes those questions on.

I loved the part about not using the first snow, because of atmospheric contamination. That was a fascinating detail. This essay makes me want to know more about this grandmother.
