This poem is very insightful on what goes through the mind of a child, perhaps, trying to live up to the impossible expectations of their parents. It perfectly explains the desperation and hopelessness of striving to be good enough for someone else, thus highlighting the major source of sadness: failing to be good enough to one's self. Outstanding work that emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one's own perception of themselves over that of others' no matter if the person on the other end is an unreasonable parental figure or complete stranger.
