Objectivity would be the view from everywhere, I suppose we little subjective brains must leave the objective deciding to God, or whatever. And our opinions are made of what? Judgements on taste and aesthetics are apparently wide open - beauty-eye-beholder, etc. You'd hope that we'd all be "objectively" aware that we're all trying to capture and express something strange as thought using language, as best we can, because we can, and stop trying to make people feel like there's some kind of competition. Nice comment, touches on our moral responsibilities not to smash others' efforts because we "don't like" or "disagree" or whatever other personal subjectivities we choose to bring into another's work. Does seem that, personally, it's hard for me to really explain to myself why a given choice of phrase or type of expression sings to me while others don't, and I suppose I should bear in mind that my judgements can affect, and often in ways completely unintended. Anyway, it's about time to remember that we're playing a communal game of meaning construction, it's a team effort. First piece I've read on here, type swift, Jace.
