Oh jeez. Was going so nicely until suddenly everyone started dying? :(

Very hard decision to make (to answer your question), but I would have saved the mother/wife. Not to be insensitive, but there is always a chance for another child. By no means do a wish to take away any value from an individual's right to live, but a wife is (or should be) a soulmate. You only get one of those.

Very nicely written! Was thought-provoking and tranquil for me, despite the fact that I have no real knowledge when it comes to religion of any sort.
