Thank you! As a novice writer, I have been inundated with rules, many of which are very helpful if somewhat overwhelming. However, this little piece is a refreshing change. Not only do you give "permission" to use the much-denigrated passive voice, but you give clear guidelines for determining when it is appropriate to do so. And your example is both creative and humorous. I especially appreciate your statement, "There are absolutely no absolutes in writing."
