Great story idea and nicely written, the only part I see that slows the story down is the song "Staying Alive".
I feel when you delve back into the past too far, (Which I get the impression we are at least a hundred years in the future)it loses credibility, who would even remember music, let alone certain songs? Other than the song, very good and entertaining story.
Should be something you could substitute for the song.
Of course this is only my opinion.
