WOW that was good. It took me a minute to realize you were writing it from the mother dogs point of view but it it very strong with feelings.

You have a lot of good ideas and I like the piece. Some of the lines are a bit wordy. I would suggest just rewrite and rewriting and smoothing out the bumps.
