Beautiful poem in all respects -- imagery, word choice, sentiment. It reminds me in some ways of Poe's "Annabel Lee," one of my favorites. Heartwarming and creepy at the same time, and it's a perfect read for the Halloween season. I love it! Thanks for sharing it here.

This story sets a very majestic tone in a short span. Well done, and I especially like the imagery evoked with the hero's "leaf-shaped" shield.
