This is just great! I not only enjoyed it immensely, but I honestly can't find anything that doesn't go perfectly. I know that we're supposed to give tips for improvement, but I can only offer the same rote advice: search for stronger verbs and reconsider every adverb for necessity.

Very good piece! Oh, and as a side note: I know how you feel.
