The Administrator of New Horizons Academy, katzendagonz (Sarah) has passed away. Here's a Facebook entry from her daughter yesterday.

My mom peacefully went to be with the Lord early yesterday morning with her kitty right by her side. We are so proud of her for choosing to live and die her way. It was perfect for her. She truly enjoyed her last days at home surrounded by her favorite things, beautiful flowers and spring weather, her sweet kitty and those who love her. She really did feel complete. What an amazing gift. God is so Good! What peace we have in knowing Him!
I remember seeing her around here a lot over the years. *Heartb* It's always so sad to lose a member of WDC. What a wonderful message her daughter sent...

Thank you for letting us know. She was an amazing force on WDC as the creator of the New Horizons Academy.
Ms. Katz was always willing to help the members of WDC. I took her classes and she was an inspiration. For years after the classes, Ms. Katz would happily answer any writing questions I had. She was well known around the site and I, as well as many others, will miss her. *Heartv*
Lest We Forget
by: Winnie Kay

With melting steel and crumbling stone,
the Towers could not stand.
Borne from that dust, a seed was sown,
uniting this great land.

Let's not forget the sacrifice
the Heroes claimed that day.
Their courage chose the highest price,
'Neath steel and stone and clay.

Great poem, Winnie. I've known people that could easily identify with that poem. Nicely done!

Today marks six weeks since my back surgery (lower lumbar fusion) which successfully eliminated the nerve pain I’ve been afflicted with for years. It’s a slow recovery—six to eight months—but I am getting stronger with less surgical pain every day and can now walk a few hundred feet without my trusty walker. Physical therapists come to the house and work with me twice a week. Soon I hope to be driving again. Cabin fever has set in and the immobility gets me down sometimes. But there are many small household chores I can do, and I’m even able to help my brother with a bit of Christmas decorating around our house. Thanks for all your support and prayers. I don't know what I'd do without my WDC family.
I'm glad to hear your pain is gone. Thank goodness for that. Be well and know that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. You just need to get there.
It's wonderful to hear you have been recovering so well, Winnie! Becoming pain-free must be such a relief for you. I completely understand about enforced immobility so I empathise. The four walls close in, don't they? Sending love for a full recovery! *Heart* *Hug*
Thinking of you, Winnie Kay. May you have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a lot less pain.....
In a lot of pain, but progressing everyday. The back surgery was a success. I'm now in rehab for a couple of weeks.
Several years ago, They almost got me under the knife, but my uncle sent me his inversion table and after two years of misery, of pain and no sleep, no sitting, no standing, no walking, no anything but constant agony, I tried it the week before my scheduled surgery to fuse my spine. I did five minutes at a time, five times a day for five days, then canceled the surgery.

I know they don't work for everyone but it did for me, I just wish I had done it sooner instead of wasting all that time with useless doctors and chiropractors.

I will offer the big guy my most sincere apologies for my occasional backsliding and pray he provides you a speedy recovery.
Oh, Winnie, I didn't know you had had surgery - you are in my thoughts. I sincerely wish you well and hope rehab is a success. Keep doing as they tell you!
With love,
Sally *Heart*
Get well soon, Teacher Winnie! *Heart* Lots of love here!
Going in for back surgery this morning for disc fusion. Hopefully, I'll be free of the constant pain, and I'll be more mobile. Wish me luck.
Winnie,

I wish nothing but the best for you always and in all things.

Jim
Good luck, Winnie. Heal fast and get rid of that pain!
God bless you, Winnie. *HeartV*

Did you watch during game 6 when the announcers showed that Sports Illustrated cover from 2014 with ( I think it was Springer on the cover & the main story you could see it bold Print was "Meet Your 2017 World Series Champions? I bet today RIGHT NOW that issue of SI has QUADRUPOLED OR MORE in value. To find THAT issue...is going to be VERY hard to do now.
Hi, Brad. Yes, they mentioned that issue with the 2017 prediction on the news this morning and interviewed the guy who wrote it.

Tumai learns of her family legacy and rises up from her anger with the hope of a new day.

Let me know what you think... *Think*

HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

My internet is back up after being down for 2 days.
I was starting to have WDC withdrawals. *Crazy*

Hello? Is anybody there?

God bless Beaumont and all of those affected by this disaster.
Trust you are OK, and thank goodness for that. You have a lot of friends beaming thoughts of loving kindness to you. May all be well...
Yes, Angus, many communities. There's a shop at Rockport with shell artwork that I use to go to on trips up there. I saw that it was wiped out. Sad.

This is the street in front of my house.
Texans are tough, but seriously...?

We got lucky, Rachel. The water stopped rising last night and has actually receded some. However, there is more rain predicted all day today and tomorrow.
Oh Winnie this must be so shocking! The picture you show is what it looks like here sometimes when it floods, but this is rainy Britain not Texas! It's unbelievable. I am thinking of you and hope you stay dry and safe, lovely! *Heart*
Harvey, don't you hurt Winnie with your floods!
This is such a scary situation, and this would terrify me,
Please stay safe, my prayers are with you at this time.
