No rest for the wicked, 3 double shifts followed by a half day on my day off, and 12 hour shifts this week. I want to get back writing but this schedule is kind of just occupying a lot of that time. BUT, all the overtime is definitely paying off. Thinking of surprising my wife with a trip back to Australia for our anniversary. Her mother can't travel on planes so she never got to see us get married. I want to set up a ceremony over there for her.
Haven't been around much these past few days. This is always a busy month for me. Not to mention I got to pick her up from the shipping center today. She's gorgeous, already need a bigger enclosure for her!
I think in the next couple days I can get back to writing now that things are settling down a bit.
Added this gorgeous Caramel Coastal Carpet Python to the family today. Have to come up with a name for her. Our daughter's name is Maia, named after the star in the Pleiades Nebula. (Named for the 7 daughter's of Atlas and Pleione in Greek mythology). I was thinking of continuing the mythos names and I'm kind of leaning toward Electra, Taygete, Arcadia, Alcyone or Pleione.
I don't recall the origin of the word maia (Greek perhaps), but it means "good mother. One of the first dinosaurs known to care for its young was named Maiasaurus.
Chapter 2 of "Blackstone Cove" Is in the works, should be done this weekend at some point.
Chapter 5 of "The Business of Perdition" is a bit of a slog for me for some reason, but I am working hard at getting it written. I'm hoping to have it completed by Sunday or Monday.
She's getting big, just about a year old now. I think we're going to add a Carpet Python to our family, likely a jungle carpet. It'll bring the house a little closer to my wife's home of Australia.
Lazy Writer est 4/24/2008 - I've liked snakes ever since I was a little kid. A few scars on my hands are from wild bites (all non venomous). This one is actually my 11 year old Daughter's. She got it for her birthday last year. She likes snakes more than I do.
dogpack saving 4premium+ - I agree. They're very fun to watch, and handle (assuming their socialized). I'm likely going to get a Jungle Carpet Python or Coastal Carpet Python this year for a bit more challenge. They're feistier so it should be interesting to tame one. That and I've wanted something more arboreal for a while, and though I like them, green tree pythons are a bit too munchy for me. Especially with a 1 year old in the house. Personally, I'd prefer a Red-Tailed Boa, just because they're so pleasant (and it was the first snake I ever held when I was a kid) but my wife isn't too keen on a 10-12 footer.
J. M. Kraynak - I absoSmurfly must ask this. Did she name the BP after Mr. Wilson because she thinks he's cool like BPs or because she thinks of him as a 'snake'?
Always Humble Poet PNG- 📓 - She named the snake after him because she likes him. I'm not sure if he knows it or not. I'm not a teacher, but that is quite the honor, at least to me.
TJ: one day closer to camping - I still have some things that need started. I've got 2 varieties of three sisters companion plants that I won't be starting until I sow the corn and sunflowers next month.
It has taken me a while, but chapter 1 of "Blackstone Cove" is nearly finished. After I get some reviewing done in the workshop, I'll start back up on "The Business of Perdition" . Chapter 5 is about halfway done right now. I appreciate all the encouragement I've got so far on both books. You guys are terrific!
