We've made it to the summer months! I've taken my kids to the park with the hopes that they spend the last of their energy having fun.
I've just composed a new poem and added it to my portfolio.

 Great and blue  (E)
Spotting a large bird along the side of a creek--what was it?

As I mentioned in the "about" section, this was written while I was listening to Matthew Wimberley read his poem, "Materials for a Gravestone Rubbing," on the Academy of American Poets poem-a-day podcast (and I'm putting another plug for that here--go listen, it's wonderful). By written, I mean it was one of those strange moments where I realized that I was living a poem, and I opened my "Notes" app and used speech-to-text to retell the moment as I drove away. Maybe that's what inspiration is for most people. Recently, and possibly because of my ADHD, I can only be creative when inspiration hits. If I don't jot it down/figure it out on the piano/make a record of it somehow, I will lose it and never remember it again. I also can't seem to sit and write, and Lord, would I love to be a writer, but the only thing I can seem to write endlessly on is my own life, and ha, unless it becomes art, what's the point in that? Someday, I must mull over why I'm so desperate for an audience.
Hi! My account is 20 today. Wait a minute, that can't be right... *Yikes*
Wow! Congratulations!

You are owed a boat load of merit badges.

Go to your own Community tab.

Go to your merit badge area.

Once there, you will see, right below your name, three options: given, received, accomplishment.

Click on accomplishment and watch the badges pour in.

Let me know in a reply here after you did that and I will send you a super exclusive badge.
This note even has a link for you to click on to make it easier to collect your badges.

Annette Author IconMail Icon, thank you so much for this note--I had no idea this was possible at the time, and now I can see all of those lovely badges!
I've just edited an item in my portfolio:
Memories of New Years Eve, 2002  (13+)
Being inebriated on New Year's Eve means more than it should to an alcoholic's daughter.
. Composed YEARS ago, I just read through and did a little fine-tuning. Still one of my best pieces I've ever written, IMO, and I've written a lot of junk. I'm only able to write well if I'm being brutally, painfully honest, it seems.
