Does it seem the only way to get warmer weather is to have the nice temperatures accompanied by high winds devolving into tornados and thunderstorms? Major forest fires cannot be too far behind.

Just watch the evening news (NBC, CBS, ABC, it matters not) and the first three stories are:

         The war in the Middle East ...
                   The millions of people in the path of some major storm system ...
                             The Epstein files fracas.

Watch the news on Monday and you're good to go for the week.

I used to listen to multiple daily news podcasts every morning then realized that they all pretty much covered the same main stories, so I pruned it down to just one.

Jeff Author Icon - I agree about the similarities. We watched all three major network (NBC, ABC & CBS) news shows for one week. They were interchangeable. Recently, my wife found a BBC news show. They seem to be unafraid of asking the right questions of the "newsmakers".

Wannabe Author Icon - I scroll through the listings to find one that catches my eye with their title and brief description. I tend to shy away from Chapters, Blogs and poems (I have trouble with poetry, especially free verse). While I usually find an item on the first two pages, I've scrolled through as many as eight pages before.

It still seems weird not calling it "The Queen's Speech" since I lived with that for my whole life until 3 years ago. I am sure a lot of Brits think that too!

When creating an item, do you use all three genre settings to describe your item?
I tend to put all 3 in; however, in some cases, I don't find a genre that suits, so then I would find the closest match, which could be wrong, or sometimes I don't put more than 1.

I've been up and down and across the Newsfeed and have seen nothing about the Winter Olympics.

Is anybody watching them? What's your favorite event?
My husband and I went out to eat the other day at a local brew pub, and they had the Olympics on some of the silent TVs. We watched and made our own commentary on the rhythmic ice dancing and the curling.
I saw some downhill skiing at work. Saw Lindsey Vonn wipe out. That was a bummer but watched Breezy Johnson earn the Gold. Saw some ice skating - not much and then some curling. I wish I had time to watch more. I wanna see bobsled and luge.
         Can Luge courses be modified? I'm curious because it seems to me that foreknowledge of a course would affect a participants ability on that course and that over many runs, "familiarity would breed contempt" and diminish the thrill of that particular course.
