I applied for the position of teacher's aid for vpk at my church. Don't know how that's going to play out. Part of me's hoping it doesn't so I can say "Oh well, I tried." {Maybe also to try and get my folks off my back about where I'm headed after school. "See, at least I tried."} There's also part of me that's excited for the road ahead, wherever that may lead. Wish me luck! I'm gonna need it.

Just learned not too long ago that my sponsoring teacher asked me to be reassigned. So that hurt. I really hoped I could turn things around and show her what I was capable of. But I guess that wasn't going to happen. I guess I'll find out on Tuesday what happens. But since things are supposed to wrap up next month, Idk what good it will do. Wish me luck you guys, apparently I'm going to need it.
Hey all, Journalistic intentions is having their 9th round starting June 1st. Take a look, give it a shot!

I learned today that fulmars, birds that resemble gulls, will projectile vomit an acidic solution at predators from 5 feet away. The more you know.
You needn't fear the Fulmar - you aren't likely to run across one unless you're out on the ocean and very well disguised! They're actually pretty cute, especially when in flight. I was lucky to see some migrating Razorbills (a Fulmar related to Puffins) a few weeks ago off the coast of the Outer Banks of NC -with a very strong scope on the end of a pier. If you're worried about birds that projectile vomit acidic solutions: don't mess with a vulture! They'll do it in a snap if they feel threatened, and all you'll want is in the world is for someone to spray you down with a hose Cheers, y'all! (BA gets down from her amateur ornithologist soapbox.)
Today I learned that quokkas (some type of wallaby), will throw their young to escape predators. Apparently kangaroos will also do this.
Quokkas are very small, about the size of a house cat (and my daughter's favourite animal; apparently they're so "cute"), but kangaroos only do it when their young are at the age when they can leave the pouch. Basically, it's just a matter of, "You can hop - hop! Don't you be slowin' me down!" The euro (a quite primitve wallaby), though, will dump an even younger one to escape. We get euros around here and greys (grey kangaroos) more than any other macropod, so finding young euros when fixes are in breeding season (stupid introduced species) is not particularly uncommon. Unfortunately.
I looked up quokkas. They are pretty adorable, stevengepp, so I see why they are your daughter's favorite animal.
