What do you guys think of this as an opener for a new mystery novel/franchise:

"My office was not smoky, there was no broad with gams up to her head (other than me), and I was not a private investigator. Yet I solved more mysteries than any police detective ever could hope to. The reason was that people were afraid of me, they thought that I would write some scathing article about them if they didn’t cooperate. They weren’t wrong. Of course everything I wrote was true, every lie has a kernel of truth if you ask me. My friends called me Poison Pen, you can imagine what my enemies called me."
