Writers block and a muse that is MIA can really take its toll on my many lingering characters that don't know what to do with themselves without my imagination to give them substance and bring them to life. *RollEyes*
I think it's time to bust out the riding crop and handcuffs. It works everytime ... take it from me *Smirk*. But really though, what works for me is ... I read through what I have, sit down somewhere nice and quiet (preferably outdoors) with a notebook and pen in hand.. I close my eyes and think about the story, visualize the characters. Sometimes it takes a choice bit of music; something I've listened to while writing the particular story I'm ruminating on.
The actions above almost ALWAYS spur my muse on. Give it a try, maybe it will give your muse a swift kick in the behind ... if not, there's always the cuffs *Wink*!
