| Hello everyone, I've landed safely back in China! I'll be having a lot more free time to write for the next few days as my employers allow me to get back into the swing of things. | An excellent question RocketJava ! Proofreaders have the burden of being both, I'm afraid! I'm specifically looking for people to read what I have so far for errors, yes, but also to see if they like what's going on in the story! I tend to send it out about the halfway point so that I have enough time to revise my plans going forward if I get a huge negative feedback over certain parts. |

We've got an Office Fatty chapter posted here called Cass the Gordge Girl centered around a storyline I've been wanting to work on for a while now, where Cass Morgan, fitness junkie radio starlet, becomes a chair-squashing office drone! Anyone whose been reading OF since the beginning knows my love for Cass and Marni! Then there's Parker Black, the Big Fat Nerd from Packing on the Pounds, another story which I've been wanting to do for a while! For those who don't have it followed (shame on you!) Buttercombe Academy II got an update from me and the ever-talented Dr. Faustus  in the Rachel Conrad storyline. The update starts here with Perfect Day for a Picnic . The first two are mine, and the last one is his! Better watch this one, folks! Last but not least, there's the Scarlet Weight Watch story I've been kicking around with WritingInTheVoid ! Lots of people helped proofread this, I screened for plenty of ideas... lots of spoons went in this pot to make sure it was as good as it could get! This is the first part of a weekly series that will update every Friday for the next two months. There are nine parts total, all already written and ready to go. "But Bobo" you might say, "I don't want to wait eight weeks to read it all!" And that's what I was hoping you might say! I'm running a special hustle with this one. | I asked, you guys spoke—no new interactives. Then I asked again, and you made it clear—no, 7's enough. That's fair! I understand. More than eight years and 4000+ chapters between all of them is a lot to take in. Not to mention all of the supplementary materials like the mix and match games and my dA stuff. I got to where I am today with the help of some great writers and a lot of fun characters, but also by having a lot of great readers who provide feedback. I guess the price to pay for helping to create and facilitating such a big web of stories is that, while things might get dull for me, it's hard to actually step outside of that web. Gotta love that spooky spider simile, just in time for spoopy season. Thanks kids, and Happy Halloween.  |
| You know, I get that feeling a lot, Bobo. I sometimes feel like I paint myself into a corner for certain types of characters, genres, and even stories. When I create big projects, that becomes my whole world, and it's hard to get out of that. Have you thought about short stories, though? I find that it's nice, every once in a while to take a break from the big projects and just do a quick story (2000 to maybe 5000 words) in a new area. It gives me the taste of something new to work with, but I can still keep working on the big projects that readers like. It's a nice brain break every so often. I know it's not the same as creating a whole new interactive with a whole new world, but it's something to think about. I know the mix and match stories are technically in the realm of short stories or even drabbles, but I'd say short bits here or there in new ideas can't hurt if it's "new" you're after. |
| Bobo is drunk and thinking about starting a new interactive, and therefore establishing a new corner of the BCU. But Bobo is apprehensive about such an undertaking, given the less-than-stellar reception/execution of certain interactives (cough-cough Valentine) while also feeling the urge to write for something new. If I did wind up hosting a new story, it'd be more or less brand new, with few/little/no ties to the pre-established lore. That way we could start fresh, with new characters and whatnot, and then slowly tie our way back to the BCU organically. Either tell me what you'd like to see or talk me out of it, because my salivation for new ideas and desire to bring in entire sheets of characters is distracting me from getting any other writing done. I repeat, potential new interactive incoming, if this isn't just Bobo being drunk and flustering |
| I think the best idea is either pick a popular character in your previous works and give them a starring role or pick a "location" which allows a decently sized cast and leave room for weight gain. Or a mix of both, of course. For the first option, I'd suggest, for instance, a character for Buttercombe II, like "Rachel Conrad's investigative life" which stars a Rachel after being a teacher for a while (or who has never been one if you want her to start slim) investigating different but all fattening cases. Or something similar starring Gia, who has never been shown so far, except in the mix and match game. For the "location with sized cast" option, an idea could be a family, but there's already Piper's family, or a workplace such as an office, the Yeng company (though I think this one would be too easy) or I think the best idea could a restaurant/pizzeria/burgeria/whateveria, since it allows a very large cast with workers and customers, and is an ideal environment for weight gain |
| Oh boy, it's almost Halloween! We've already had the "trick" part of trick or treat thanks to the special Halloween Round of Mix and Match, but I think it's time for a treat! We're going to play a special version of the game called 'What If?' where, you guessed it, you post "what if" questions pertaining to characters and scenarios related to my stories. You can post as many "What Ifs" as you like in one comment! And I'll go through and pick the best ones (anywhere from 3 to 5) and write up 500 word short stories as we did here in the previous game. NO LAZY QUESTIONS! "What if x wanted to get fat" "what if x roomed with Hannah Hammond" "what if x workd with Yeng" and so on aren't likely to be picked! The more interesting I find the question, the more likely I am to choose it! Go ahead and get your questions posted! I want to knock this out before Halloween! |

(Whether she changed the direction of the company, or kept to the fattening food productions). --What if Tetsuo Yeng one day announced, completely out of the blue, that Yeng is shutting down? What level of impact would that have? --What if the Carlyles were a gymnast family, with Mel and Alice having both participated in Olympic contests? |

I don't have a lot of problems writing about fictional characters. A lot of my earlier work is based in anime/comics and television shows! It's just that I haven't been piqued by anything recently. That being said, I don't particularly enjoy writing celebrity fiction. Writing about the character is all well and good for me, but I have a lot of trouble writing about the celebrities that portray those characters.
