| Yesterday it was 70, I ran around in shorts and a tshirt. Today woke up to 8" of snow over 2" of ice. Everything is closed. It is snowing sideways and it is an upslope storm, so it smells like a feed lot. Oh and we just got power back, been out for 4 hours >:( |
| I just got the best gift ever. I was asked what I wanted for Xmas, and I said a share in a goat from Hiefer.org. They bought a whole goat! Because of my awesome friends, a family is going to get a dairy goat and it is going to change their lives from charity recipients to philanthropists in their village. (As part of the condition to receive one, they must promise to pass on the first female offspring to another family.) They'll be able to give their kids milk and cheese, have an income, send their kids to school. How amazing is that? I am so excited! How awesome is that? |
| If you haven't seen it yet. There is a little girl, 8 years old, in upstate New York. Her family was murdered by arson 2 years ago and her biological mother has abandoned her. Her aunt now has custody of her. She survived the inferno, shielded by her father's body, but has burns over 75% of her body. She has had 50 surgeries and spent 10 months in the hospital, and recently had to have her right hand and left foot amputated. All this courageous child wants is Christmas Cards from around the country and world. Her address is: Safyre Terry P.O. I looked them up and they eat snakes. For that reason alone I would definitely consider one. How do these little guys sneak up on and eat snakes? They seem very interesting. Personally, I like my interaction with my Basset Hound - the tail wagging and affection I get whenever I walk into the room. I am not sure a hedgehog could compete with that, but at eating snake thing definitely gives them an edge in the pet dept.  |
