There are no easy words to say this. Recently my father Gene Sarge Ladnier was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
He loved to share his stories with his friends and colleagues on this site and he would have wanted me to let you know the situation. A few days ago my dad passed away. He wanted to address everyone himself but in the last few weeks its been difficult for him to get around so we wanted to contact the people of this site and let you know, that he has met his ship to Valhalla and he is currently sitting in the great feasting hall. My dad loved to write. He was always engrossed in a new Sterling novel, or a great Cussler adventure. Literature was his life reading and writing and it showed with the beautiful words he put on paper. With the amazing words of encouragement that he always received from his followers and friends on this site he molded some of the most interesting characters into a magical story, or a beautiful poem. My fathers only regret is that he couldn't give more. He always dedicated his life to his family and his loved ones. He was a soldier, a father, a husband, a friend and all around amazing man. We will definitely miss him, there are not many men like him. Id like to say he was a rare breed. Please share his stories with your loved ones. I know that's what he would of wanted you to do. Thank you for listening and God Bless.
So very sorry to hear this! I know that he knew my brother, (Joe Umholtz) Rasputin, and they exchanged ideas on this site. He was helpful to me as well. I have to think that your Dad and my brother and exchanging stories in a happier place.
My condolences.

My condolences. I remember how my grandmother was in the final weeks of stage 4 lung cancer. It's never easy. ::hug:: You're all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Old Warrior will sorely be missed.
Sorry I haven't been on site lately. Seems as if I have a serious nerve problem in my right eye, and it's closed. When I open it isee blurred and double vision, so it's hard to read or write for more than a few moments. Awaiting results from eye doctor now. In addition, I have two severe fractures in my lower spine, and can barely walk, continuous pain. Awaiting to SEE a doctor. Love youguys.
Doncha know, it's because you're on Old Warrior... my favorite kind of people I respect. As for me, I'm probably your senior but don't tell people I'm old. I just need ironing. Take care of yourself and keep your spirits high... or at least within arms reach, eh?
One of the most difficult things we writers have to do is edit what we have written. One reason is because WE often do not see the simple errors; typos, improper grammar, punctuation, character development, events, timelines, smoothness of flow, terminology, and so much more. My eyes even fly over misused words and simple tying errors. We have spent so much time pounding the keys and giving birth to our next ‘baby’ it’s hard to know what to change. We always tell ourselves, did I put in all the right ingredients; sight, sound, taste, touch, hearing, emotions, and so forth. And, when we read it, it naturally sounds OK to us. Many of my friends on WDC are just like family, they don’t want to say, “I didn’t like that part,” or “this needs fixing,” or “you screwed up here,” or “the dialogue here needs work, etc.” To cut this short, I am looking for someone on site to review my latest book, “The Lone Traveler” and give me some constructive feedback, someone to find those boo-boos and point them out to me so I can correct them. Tell me what you like and do not like, and suggest needed changes. This must be done without tearing the story apart and making me sound like I should stop writing. I guess I am searching for a kindred editor. I guarantee very generous rewards for honest reviews even if it is only a chapter you want to review. Thanks - Oldwarrior
That's quite a bit of GPs for a kindred editor, hon. Why not state in the beginning that good reviews will be awarded as well as appreciated? That might get more people attracted to it and give you more than just one willing reviewer.
A young farm girl undertakes a fantastic and perilous journey in a Medieval like world.
I have completed the FRST DRAFT of my first fantasy novel, “The Lone Traveler,” written and expanded from a short story - all written on WDC. I wrote it pretty fast – in two months deducting the two Holiday weeks -. I have opened it up to my fellow writers to review and, I sincerely hope you enjoy reading it. I am open to and I humbly encourage any suggestions to help improve any or all of it; grammar, punctuation, character development, events, timelines, smoothness of flow, terminology, and more. Your personal suggestions will aid me considerably during the long editing and rewrite process. Oldwarrior
