Are you having trouble writing?
Can't find the words?
The time?
The energy to get your words done each day?

*Laughs* Well, that's a cheesy pitch for sure, isn't it?

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with everyone on here because it's been great for me and if I can help anyone else get their words down, then I will.

17 days ago, I started playing the writing rpg game 4thewords at 4thewords.com. It combines getting your words down with game play. You fight monsters that have certain word counts, and set time limits. There are quests and special events, as well as a community of other writers/gamers to play/write with.

Before finding this site, I've been in a huge writing funk. Only writing in November, and even then failing NaNo for the last two times running. Yeah, I was pregnant in 16, and our house burned in 17, but still.

In 2016 I only got 16,957. 2017 was a little better at 21,891, but still fell woefully short of 50,000. That's a total of 38,848 words in two years.

In the last 17 days, I've written 51,796 words.

Yeah, I can't believe it either, but there it is. I'm not saying you'll suddenly be writing as much as me, but it is something you can look into and see if it motivates your writing as well as it does mine.

If you do sign up, friend me. I'm Noyoki there too. Also use THIZJ40664 as the referral code so we can both get some bonus items!

If you try it, come back here and let me know what you think? Honesty, I'm loving it!
I noticed that. That's always nice because it doesn't feel like they're trying to trick you into forgetting about it and accidentally paying for a month of it anyway.

I think I'm going to start the free trial here soon and see if it's something I'd like.
I sent you a friend request
Looks pretty fun! I've just started the free trial. I'll send you a friend request shortly. I'm Squirtoon. *Smile*

I just want to say that I'm so proud "Invalid Item won the 2017 Quill Award for flash fiction. It's one of my favorite stories, and I'm delighted it won.

Thank everyone who voted for it!

Still, 16 days to go! no worries. Try getting up early one morning and tap the keys. It was suggested to me by a mentor, who told me that most of the bestselling authors write in the mornings before anyone in their homes gets up. I must admit it works for me more often than not.
One of my all-time favorite authors is Randy Alcorn. This is what he has to say about Writer's Block.

"When writer’s block strikes, how do you get past it?

"For some reason this isn’t a problem for me. Perhaps it’s because I do so many other things besides writing, that I have to carve out the writing time and then when I get to it I’m so ready it tends to pour out of me. I learned long ago that I should never wait for inspiration or a good beginning. I just jump right in, realizing that it doesn’t have to be good—I’ll either cut it out or clean it up later. Years ago I heard someone say 'Never edit at the point of conception.' Just get it written and move forward, and do the subtle finesse-stuff when you come back to it later. The best writing comes in revision, not creation—but you have to have something to revise. I think a lot of writer’s block happens when people wait for the right words. I never wait for them. I just write. Then, later, I labor over finding just the right words, and there’s no block because I’m looking at something on the screen, which is always better than looking at nothing."
Thank you both for your thoughtful insights!
