A tip I learned the other day... go to your book and find "ly" and take out as many as you can (words like quickly, slowly, etc.) Either consider removing the word or rework the sentence. In doing so, I found my sentences became more original and tailored to my writing style. Try it out! I'm happier with my writing now.

I say this because I read somewhere that a lady submitted her query letter, and the agent rejected it with this comment, "Nice story, but what's unique about your sentences?"
