Are you talking about having nothing in your feed? Because it only shows you site wide posts and the posts of people you have fanned. If you want to see what is really going on you need to check out the community feed which can be accessed through the community feed tab at the top of your news feed.

From there you can fan people you find interesting and want to hear more from by clicking the heart to the right of their handle. Click it once to favorite them which puts them on your feed. Click it twice until it turns gold to fan them which lets them know you are following them.

I would recommend fanning Schnujo's having school probs Author IconMail Icon because she is usually quite helpful and randomly rewards her fans with gift points or badges.
