Between 2017 & 2022 I wrote 4 massive 200,000 word books.It took me till 2024 to convert them first to 6 shorter books,then 10 &, now, working towards 12!
After 160 query letters & 50 rejections, I decided to self publish & have 7 of them released into the wild.
I never realised, when I was writing, that the writing was the easy part. Everything that has come after has been a nightmare!
In 2022, the statistics were that only 2% of books written are ever published & if those that are, more than half only ever sell 100 copies.
This is a really challenging business,to be sure!
Congratulations on finishing your books and not giving up!
Self-publishing isn't any better if you don't have a way to market your books. I encourage you to look into how you plan to do that. For me, if I ever get to it, it will be a lead magnet and email list with my and other people's books posted regularly so I don't have to come up with new and interesting things to say daily. Lol
See what will work best for you. I wish you the best!
It’s pretty easy to publish those titles with Amazon print on demand, if you haven’t already. You can Amazon link your books anywhere throughout the internet, including X and Facebook. Ways to promote through Amazon, too. Local Barnes and Noble stores have held a few books for authors I’ve known around here. Consider consignment. Places you frequent might be willing to do consignment, too: salon, dentist, other book retailers, just any place they can lay at the counter.
Sorry, if sounding too pushy with these thoughts. Kind of helps remind myself. Schnujo's having school probs can be very helpful.
