Notes by Just an Ordinary Boo!, in chronological orderNotes by Just an Ordinary Boo!
I've just edited an item in my portfolio:
The Oddventures of Childhood V5.1  (ASR)
The latest version of my book. Bits and pieces will be put up as they are ready.

There's a Prologue and eight chapters done. About 38000 words. I feel like I am halfway there!

But I would love input on how it reads - does it mesh together well? Do you think it moves forward smoothly? Does it need another direction?

I changed a couple of things due to earlier input and am grateful for those reviewers. Please step up again, folks!

There are six chapters up for reading. I am looking for input on character composition, too sweet, too sour, too bland, etc. Also with the flow of the story, does it ramble, does it grip you, does it make you want to read more?

Specific input also welcome. Grammar is something I will tackle at a later date, when the novel is up, so volunteers to be Chief Eagle Eye can sign up too.

Thanks to Joy Author IconMail Icon , Quest-YELLOW-Thanks Schnujo Author IconMail Icon and sandyaspen for their input. Please, all of you out there - feel free to join the Critics. (Critics are good, without them there would be no improvement!)

The first part (s) of my novel is (are) up!
It's been a WIP for years since it's actually a series of short stories about children. There's an overdraft to stitch them together.

Would love feedback. Not editing, I will be doing at least three to four more passes before I need eagle eyes!

I meant to write "overstory", not "overdraft"! I'm hungover from too much drafting!
Done reading it and loved it so! So good!
Chapter 5 is up! I have had some kind readers tell me they want to read the next installment, so here it is!

I am glad the feedback so far has been positive. I would like to know what tweaks you want to see.

Thanks to Quest-YELLOW-Thanks Schnujo Author IconMail Icon for letting me know that I have made the mother out to be a 'villain'. Definitely going to work in bits to show that it was just her being overwhelmed by a difficult pregnancy that made her unable to see that her daughter was being neglected, even hurt by her preoccupation. She will show sincere efforts to win beack her affection.
Thanks to all those who have kindly dropped in to congratulate and wish me well! Cinn, Charlie, Marci, Maryann, Minja, Sisco, Sapph, Eyestar! I know you all, have met you in/at various activities and am proud to call you friend, although I know very little about you personally in most cases!

I am overwhelmed by the kindness and supportive spirit, please know that words are not enough to express the depth of my feelings!!
Hey wait!

*tucks hand in crook of Pat's elbow*

I have two hot cappuccinos right here, extra shot of espresso, extra foam, extra hot!

Let's sit and enjoy our morning kick-starters!
And ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy Author Icon , West Coast will have to wait until my next visit, I am doing six to seven cities on the East Coast as of now, with brief day/weekend trips in and around Michigan and Detroit! I need to spend some time lazing around and 'chilliaxing' with my son, too!

But, hopefully, I will be back again, to see more of your vast country!

Thanks for the warm invite! Be assured we'd be as pleased to host you in India, whether Mumbai or Bangalore!

Jyo
Thanks for the cappuccino, Jyo! That really did the trick, especially with your company! *Bigsmile*
Oh dear, oh dear! It's really here! Or nearly so! I mean NaNo!

After 2 gap years I am going to try NaNoWriMo for the second time around!

Extensive prepping got me a nearly complete novel last time, but left me drained of the Muse, that last 5% of tying up loose ends is still undone!

So this time, no Prep, all Muse!

If you want to cheer me on ... please sponsor my efforts at

I'm going for fantasy this time, really out-of-the-box. A floating world, not on Earth, or of Earth, but it interacts with some forces from there! Evil Vs Good as usual, and yes, the Good guys win! *Laugh*

I have just a vague spin-off from one of my disinterred short stories as plot nucleus - watch this space for updates!
Hey, hey girlie! You gave away the punchline, there, the good guys win!! *Laugh*
Don't they always? Frankly, fantasy should always stick to Happily-ever-after! There's enough realism in the other genres, one can twist things for the good guys with ease in these worlds of our creation! At least, that's the only kind of world I will create!

It's called Alesia and is going to have gryphons as watch-dogs, Elvenvolk as the magical species, human-like populace too, in fact the ruling families are human!

It's a part of Atlantis that survived or pre-dated the submersion! There are three parallel, but separate, life tales - two good, one evil, and the final battle! Not decided on whether there will be a love interest or not, right now the vote is for not.

My head whirls with thoughts and I cannot wait to start!

It's that time of the year again! Well, nearly - and everyone is busy with preparations for WDC's upcoming Birthday celebrations. RAOK has its own reason to celebrate - it just reached the BIG One-Oh! It turned ten!*Cakep* *Balloon2* *Partyhatb*

For those who struggle to maintain items in a swelling portfolio, while juggling GPs to cover an upgraded account as time inexorably runs out ... Over the past ten, yep, TEN years, RAOK has gifted over a thousand Upgraded memberships to our authors and plan on doing so for many years to come.

You can request an upgrade at "Request An Upgrade From RAOK or join the activities at "Join RAOK!

In order to keep on churning out those random kind acts it does need funds though, so this is an appeal for all to contribute in any way they can. You can do it the easy way - just send GPs to the group, any handy change you have after renewing your accounts! *Thumbsup* Or you could get yourself one of the limited edition elegant lapel pins up for sale in the gift shop, they automatically get 100,000 GPs per sale. But, hurry - there are only a total 100 up for grabs! *Cool*
I QUIT my job! Just upped and quit! I tell people it was because my vision and the company vision were clashing and ideals were also vastly divergent, but the 'straw' was a petty clash with accounts over some bills. Still, I'm glad I had reason to quit, the place was free -wheeling down the high road to disaster; it was better to let go of the helm without feeling guilty about it!
Hey! You're not an 'ordinary' Job-Quitter! You quit for a real good reason~
Good for you! That must be so freeing! Best of luck in whatever you choose to do and I hope you will take some time just for you. *Shamrock*
Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. Sad for them good for you! Luck on your next one *Heart*
Hrrghhghh-hhhrrghhgh-hrgh! That was me trying to chuckle and ending up spasmodically coughing myself - errr - laughing myself - blue in the face! Slide those sliders and skin the skins any time you want, I'll tell the police you have the spare key!
LOVING IT, THANKS. HAPPY 10TH, TO ALL OF US!
