A lot of us have probably contemplated/dreamed of leaving the day job behind to stay home in our PJs and write full time. Obviously the all-mighty

and the consistency is a concern. Another I've thought of is benefits. As I mull things over I worry that I'm missing something so who better to ask than all my fellow writing brothers and sisters on WDC??

Weigh in with your thoughts, things to think about ... give me the pros and cons as you see them! Share your experiences and dreams!

Benefits: I actually researched that. Even authors who are signed with publishing houses have to get their own medical plan. If they make loads of money, it's not a problem. For those only selling enough to make up a 9-5 job, it can be a real hardship.

Pay: The almighty Dollar is an issue. You have to have at least one year's worth of your minimal living expenses in the bank before you leap. You should be able to meet rent/morgage, ongoing bills, food & medications, and have some extra for unexpected bills. That might sound too dramatic, but a year goes by quickly.

My bottom line would be: Have some books that are selling before I give up my day job. (You have that). Have a spouse with a family medical plan. Have cash to weather the storm.

Because of the Kindle Select program Club Justice is still limited to Kindle only in the ebook format. It is available in paperback through Amazon or occasionally I offer one up through WDC auctions like "Invalid Item"

Yeah ... that's what I don't like about Amazon. They keep authors hostage with their big machine. Nook doesn't require you to make yourself slave to their machine only. (Okay, I had fun with that one
