Planning for the New Year. One down, 825 to go! *Rolling*
๐ŸŒ HuntersMoon Author Icon - What are you counting? Or should I not ask?
I love the poem, thank you for sharing and for caring.
So, having moved to Mexico, I've rediscovered that different cultures celebrate Christmas in different ways.

I still cling to my American roots *Rolling* ...

A major groaner, but a good one that evoke 3 G's... ie: more than groan, but a grin and giggle as well.
Yeah, that's a groaner all right. That said and on a tad more serious note, does your community have Las Pasados? I'm not sure of the spelling, but I think that's the tradition.

Ken, thank you for your service to our country. And continued thanks for your support of all of us here at Writing.Com.
"Thank you for your service..."
has become almost a cliche, an automatic response when we hear that someone has served. If you truly want to thank a veteran, go beyond the words and take a moment of your time to shake a hand, touch a shoulder, or, as we are taught as writers, Show, Don't Tell.

Happy Veteran's Day

Remembering those who have served this nation... and those who supported them.

Thanks for sharing your tribute with us, Ken. I agree--thanking someone for his or her service should always be accompanied with shaking their hand. I took that from my U.S. Marine son-in-law who ALWAYS shook a veteran's hand.

Thanks for your service, Ken. *Hug2**Hug1*

THANKFUL SONALI On Hiatus got me hooked on completing the 5 daily tasks a few months ago, touting the clever animations The StoryMaster added as a reward.

I think we need to take up a collection for him and get an upgrade on his calendar program. Today's creation is a celebration of Cinco de Mayo. *Rolling*

I'm pretty sure it's not May and not the 5th.

Ugh, that one is not supposed to be in the rotation.

Currently there's nothing coming around cause I'm working on other pretty cool stuff.

It picks randomly from the existing set of 75+.... But apparently too randomly. *Bigsmile*
so...we should not believe anything we hear in church??????
I was glad to see it as I seldom do all 5. Festive is fine unless I'm confused. Still Thursday the 2nd here... an orange day.

A humorous poem about poetry and its forms...

I was reading a lot of "free verse" and, being a lover of traditional poetry, I thought I'd try to make a point with a little humor.

WHY WDC IS IMPORTANT

Trump signed an executive order in March telling his Education secretary, Linda McMahon, to โ€œfacilitateโ€ the closure of the agency she leads as a way to give states more control of the federal money for their schools.

IMPEACH!

Legendary country, rock and pop singer Connie Francis, known for multiple hits in the 50's and 60's has died at the age of 87. Here is one of her first big hits in rememberance.,

Rest in Peace

Joy  Author Icon
Rest in Peace.
AMEN

I

remember watching Connie Francis on the Ed Sullivan show. For some reason, both my mother and my grandmother liked her. I don't know how many times she appeared on the show, but I am positive I was made to watch every one of them.

This doesn't mean that it was a bad experience, although I am saddened by the comparison to today's singers. During the Cold War/Social Revolution era, it was extremely rare for a song to air on the radio or TV without the viewer being able to recognize the singer by their singing style or voice alone. Connie Francis was one of those singers!

Back then, the promoters looked for singers with unique voices and styles, compared to today's artists, who all sound the same. If you had today's female artists all singing the same song, played by the same band with the same arrangements, no one would be able to tell one singer from another. Or it could be my tin earโ€ฆ

"May God bless Connie Francis, and may she rest in eternal peace."
