"Thank you for your service..." has become almost a cliche, an automatic response when we hear that someone has served. If you truly want to thank a veteran, go beyond the words and take a moment of your time to shake a hand, touch a shoulder, or, as we are taught as writers, Show, Don't Tell. Happy Veteran's Day Remembering those who have served this nation... and those who supported them.

THANKFUL SONALI On Hiatus got me hooked on completing the 5 daily tasks a few months ago, touting the clever animations The StoryMaster added as a reward. I think we need to take up a collection for him and get an upgrade on his calendar program. Today's creation is a celebration of Cinco de Mayo. I'm pretty sure it's not May and not the 5th. ![]() |
| Ugh, that one is not supposed to be in the rotation. Currently there's nothing coming around cause I'm working on other pretty cool stuff. It picks randomly from the existing set of 75+.... But apparently too randomly. |
| โ๏ธ Richard โ๏ธ Lilli โ must have just transferred it. When you transfer an item, it automatically is set to private... Oh wait, Schnujo is right, the QOTD was asking about our plans for the fall equinox... But that's not why it is private... |
Have you ever noticed that odd thoughts seem to coalesce around late Sunday nights? For a small donation to "Honoring Our Veterans - Challenge" I'll explain it to you |
It is said that you can change the world if you can brighten one person's day. This one's for you Robert Waltz I don't know about you, but I feel better already. |
| I've known about that for some time. Its existence made me question my atheism for a brief moment, until I realized that the impossible distance meant that there are no gods. |

| Nostalgia Day at "Earn the Badge - CLOSED" "What's one of the first things you posted to your portfolio?" I think it might have been:
I was reading a lot of "free verse" and, being a lover of traditional poetry, I thought I'd try to make a point with a little humor. Nothing's changed. |

Legendary country, rock and pop singer Connie Francis, known for multiple hits in the 50's and 60's has died at the age of 87. Here is one of her first big hits in rememberance., Rest in Peace |
I remember watching Connie Francis on the Ed Sullivan show. For some reason, both my mother and my grandmother liked her. I don't know how many times she appeared on the show, but I am positive I was made to watch every one of them. This doesn't mean that it was a bad experience, although I am saddened by the comparison to today's singers. During the Cold War/Social Revolution era, it was extremely rare for a song to air on the radio or TV without the viewer being able to recognize the singer by their singing style or voice alone. Connie Francis was one of those singers! Back then, the promoters looked for singers with unique voices and styles, compared to today's artists, who all sound the same. If you had today's female artists all singing the same song, played by the same band with the same arrangements, no one would be able to tell one singer from another. Or it could be my tin earโฆ "May God bless Connie Francis, and may she rest in eternal peace." |
