In total the clock read 38 seconds. Our victor didn't look altered by the experience and I wondered if he knew I was watching the video.
"Rewind that!" My buddy was all bubbles.
My friend didn't realize that in speaking to me he missed the best part. I could see the strain ignite on the fighters face as his knee took the kick. He skipped slightly and leaped at an impossible angle. It was a uniform half turn, which resulted in one kicked face and what appeared to be a nearly buckled knee.
He could have rolled away instead of taking the landing, but perhaps it wasn't as bad as I'd thought... after that it was finished. The victor was clear.
He jumped, kicked, and landed with the same leg.
"Did you see that?!" my buddy gushed ; As if I hadn't. I didn't think he'd have been able to do it. He'd pulled his punch, as the tournament rules prohibited blows to the face. Had he followed through, that guy would have been done. In the moments as he moved away his opponent had thrown a kick to his knee; also illegal.
