So, now that I have renewed my upgraded membership for the year it is time to set new goals! I am looking to break into inspirational writing given my new pursuits as a Pastor/Church Planter. I am looking to get into writing Christian Fiction. I am also looking forward to uploading some of my sermons to a blog item. Let me know what you think of these. I would also love to hear about any groups of Christians on the site. You can e-mail me and I think that would be mostly better than responding here on the news feed. Anyway I guess what I intend to say is: WRITE ON!
I had a great idea for a sermon last night on my way to church for Wednesday Bible study and gave me a great idea, I just wish I could remember what it was! LESSON LEARNED: Get it down in writing somewhere when it strikes. That's what all these smart phones and not taking programs are for! Just sayin' . . .
the dictation apps on the phones are good for things like this. I also carry little notebooks with me. I hope the idea returns to you!
Here is a good story you can share in your Bible story. A boy asked his father if he could help pay for his college expenses. The father agreed to do so on the condition he reads the Bible. The boy agrees. Weeks pass and the boy goes to his father and declares that he had read the Bible and only needs his father to sign the check as agreed. The father sadly shook his head and stated, "You did not read the Bible as agreed; at least not all the way through." The boy was stunned and asked his father how he knew this. The father smiled and replied, "I placed the check in the last page of the Bible. Had you read it, you would have found it."
As my time has been limited I have not had the time and energy required to run the "The Steampunk Authors' Guild " [E] in a way as is fitting such a fine group of people. To that end we will be transitioning leadership over the next several weeks to CeruleanSon I am not leaving "The Steampunk Authors' Guild " [E] or WdC at any time in the foreseeable future. My interests are just moving in a new and different direction.
My absence from the site has been due to a number of complicating factors: The death of a dear friend and the death of a beloved family pet are at the top of the list. Also I have been "called" to a new adventure: I have answered a calling to the ministry and will be starting a new church in our local area. This further complicated things because our dear friend who passed was our pastor's daughter so I had to fill in for him while he was gone for several weeks. I am now working on becoming licensed and ordained and all the sundry paperwork involved in starting the new church. Our church is "Silver Lake Family Fellowship." If you are a praying person your prayer support is much appreciated! In the meantime I will try to do a better job of checking in moving forward! C-U-Around!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been unavoidably absent from the site. I have had a bout of personal illness (severe bronchitis) and also dealing with my mother-in-law's illness has necessitated her being placed in a skilled nursing facility for rehab. Looks like she may be there for several weeks. I hope to be back soon and get things rolling in my various activities again. I sincerely hope my absence has not caused any problems for anyone, if it has let me know and I will find a way to make it up to you!
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! I hope you are all keeping warm. Most of the state of Arizona got snow last night including Phoenix! Uhh-hhmmmpphh, now down to business.

Thank you for your kind attention to this note. |
MY QUESTION OF THE DAY: While not exactly a writing question, it is a reading question: In a trilogy novel, when the prequel is also available do you read that first; or save it for last? I await your response, ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
That is a very good question. I would read the trilogy first then read the prequel to see if there are any answers to questions left unanswered.
Read the story in Published Order, that's my advice, especially for the 22 novels of the Redwall series. Brian Jacques had a habit of jumping back in time on occasion, going from the "Present" all the way into the "Past", sometimes framing the main story as a story being told to young ones in the "Future". That being said, if the trilogy is put into an Omnibus book, or whatever, you'd best read it as is, even if it isn't in the "correct" order.
What a weekend! We left Friday morning and went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to an Alabama concert, all i can say is WOW! No wonder they have been around so long, their music just never gets old! The next morning we got up early and went to Fort Worth, Texas. Such a long drive! We were going to a concert at BillyBob's Texas, the world's largest honky tonk. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding of the information on their website so we did not get to see that concert. Sunday morning we traveled to Roswell, New Mexico to see our kids, grandkids, and great-grandkid. Our great-grand is a brand new baby, she was so sweet! Well we are back home now! What a great trip! What a great country we have! There is so much beauty everywhere! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
I had problems with Billy Bob's back in March. We did finally get it straightened out but it was a huge hassle! Glad you enjoyed the rest of your trip! Alabama is awesome!
Roswell--ROSWELL! OMG, the X-Files is permeating my brain right now. "This is not happening!" Now, are your kids and grand/great-grand's affected by the mysterious goings on in the area? Did you stop by that famous diner? Inquiring minds want to know. I love this! I hope your vacation was great! It sounds like you had a wonderful time in your travels.
I have just added a new piece of microfiction to my portfolio:

Perhaps the first paragraph or so, and then a "read more" link either to the hidden text or to the rest of the actual entry in your blog.
Safe travels and many blessings.
