And now I want a bagel. Thanks for that! lol Too bad I have to be gluten-free. Plus, I'm sick, so I can't even go on the (probably fruitless) search for a gluten-free bagel. Drat, you! As if I wasn't suffering enough! lol

Thanks, dogpack saving 4premium+ Author Icon! I've been sick since a week ago last Saturday, so approaching 2 weeks now. Annoying. Thankfully, my friend/neighbor has a really strong immune system so he comes and checks on me daily, usually at least twice.

He's gotten me groceries, meds, and run errands for me. I really appreciate him, but it seems like a big ask to make him run around for gluten-free bagels when he doesn't have a car. lol Especially because his car was stolen from my parking space! Eek! I know it's not my fault, but I still feel a bit responsible for that. That was like 2 yrs ago and he just never bought another because they are expensive and it's cheaper for him to take the bus and train, especially with his student and disability discounts.

He's also a disabled vet like me, though he got out paralyzed from the waist down. He was told he'd never walk again, but decided that wouldn't be his fate. He's a super mega genius, so he started researching medical journals, taking classes on the human body, etc. He finally came up with a surgery that he thought would work and told the VA surgeon. The surgeon said it only had a 50% chance of working. But he said since the other 50% chance meant he'd just stay paralyzed, it seemed like great odds to him, so they tried it. He doesn't run, but if you met him, you'd never know he'd been paralyzed. He doesn't walk with even a limp!

Obviously, he still has other issues from the injury and his military service, but he is a miracle and a genius and I'm so grateful to have him as a friend!

One of our favorite things to do when we visited France some years back was our morning walk to pick up a baguette and some cheese for breakfast. Much better than our normal heavier American breakfasts.

And we don't live near a good bakery at home.

That was actually my name tag at the movie theater for a while. My boss thought it was fun/funny to give us all name tags reflecting anything but our name. Apparently, I said, "Well, actually..." a LOT, so he put that on my tag for a while.

Then he put "Slooooow" on there because I was great with the customers -- always had the highest sales in concessions, but I wasn't the fastest. IDK what you want from me, dude. When we had promotions, I would always double and sometimes triple the person in 2nd place.

Do you want me great or do you want me fast because I can't be both. Also, fast might not be an option because IDK if I can give up being great. Hahaha!
