I had a major opportunity drop into my lap, which will hopefully give me some direction and start me writing again. I’ll be writing it with a friend who had a near death experience that was in the national news he and wants to write about it.

I have the skills but not the subject. He has the subject but not the skills. Sounds like a good match. But we are out of my comfort zone so it’ll be difficult. I may need some direction from you guys at times and definitely a lot of reviewing.
Thought I’d just drop in and say hey. I haven’t written anything in a really long time. So I’m gonna re-read my own work. Maybe it’ll inspire me.
Haven't seen you in a while. Glad to know you're OK. *Hug1**Smile**Hug2*
Good luck. I'm trying to edit years of work here I quickly wrote and forgot about.
Aundra! Hey girl, great to see you. What about a contest prompt to stir up that sleeping muse?

I know I am not around much anymore, but I love this site and like to keep all of my work in one place.
But I got caught off guard and my membership expires on Halloween. If anyone can possibly donate, it would be really helpful. Any amount would be awesome.

There you are! *Ha* You've been missed, hon. *Heart*
Don't forget you get pretty much instant GPs by reviewing. You can go to the Community tab and choose Auto-Reward Items, Read a Newbie, or Read & Review for good GPs. If you do actually good, thoughtful reviews, you might get rewarded by the person you are reviewing as well. *Smile*

Good luck! I believe in you! *Heart*
Just want to say, thank you so much to those of you who donated to help me stay around. II love this community so much. Sometimes you guys know me better than my family. This is where I bear my soul.
Need help quick! My daughter is getting married on July 3 and has asked me to read something at the ceremony.

It was only then, as I went through my portfolio, that I realized I don’t have anything appropriate for the occasion! I guess don’t write about romantic love. I almost never have. Weird.

Does anyone have a really good piece to recommend that I can read?

Or better yet a prompt to help me maybe pick a direction and write something of my own. I don’t know where to start and I don’t know if I have it in me to write it in time
Uh...I write poems about dogs and dust bunnies. I don't think that would work for you.

I don't know for sure, but I feel compelled to refer you to Choconut Author Icon's port. I would look around for you, but I'm up against some deadlines myself and I'm not 100% sure what you are looking for.

If you're going to do a speech, I like the idea of sharing a memory or two of your daughter that might not be well known to everyone attending but highlights her personality in a way that they'll go 'Oh, that's classic [insert name here]'.

Sharing your favourite piece of advice is always nice. Who was it that wrote a lovely piece about how their mother always complimented strangers? Was that you? If it was, that's a nice piece of advice to share as they start their life together, and also a lovely way to honour your mother. If not, it could be funny little things like a recipe you epically screwed up once that she'll remember (don't forget to soak the raisins when making the CHristmas pudding!) or whatever, or making sure to put each other's birthdays and anniversaries into their Google calendars so they don't forget them, or it could sweet or important advice.

Then welcome her spouse to the family, either simply or by sharing a funny memory about your first impressions of him.

Best of luck!
Because it’s been so long between visits I’m not sure who is still around. So I am tagging all of my friends that I have let down and sorely neglected.

I really feel inspired to start volunteering and I’m sure I’ll come across some great family stories. Finally I have found the next step in the road I want to take. So, even though I’ve said it 1 million times I will be coming back. I just need to get my passion back.

Aundria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello my dear friend! It is wonderful to see you!
"Roots & Wings Contest it currently open, it must have been calling to you. If you would like to judge a round...? Drop me an email.
Elle  Author Icon
So good to hear from you! *Heart*
Good to see you here. Although I have been myself absent for quite a while, seeing you around makes me happy.
Once again I am checking in to say hello to everyone. I keep meaning to get back to writing and I just never seem do it.
But my last child is leaving home next year and I now have 40 years of nothing on my daily schedule.

With all this time on my hands I’ve decided to do volunteering for hospice care. It’s a great way to find life stories for people who would otherwise not have the time or ability to record them. And besides I really need friends. I am still incredibly lonely.

I have written in the past a little about what I want to do with my writing and I feel like this will get me another step closer. In fact I wrote a short essay on it a long time ago before I really had an idea of what to do with it

Wow...are you finally back here in the site Aundria? I haven't seen you for a very long time.
Right? I have just lost my motivation and lost my way I think. Not to mention my laptop start glitching out so it would have been hard for me to upload anything new anyway. But hopefully my muse will kick in when II start volunteering and getting out of the house
I see. That's sad but it's okay. I hope everything goes well for you now. I'm glad to see you around.
Help! As I mentioned earlier my mother passed away last week. I am speaking at her funeral on Friday and it will be so difficult to do her justice.

Ironically, I wrote this piece about her a few years ago but never dreamed I'd be reading it at her funeral. I have edited it again and made several changes but am not sure if it flows right.

I would be forever grateful if someone would read it through for me for content and errors. I don't want to stammer as I read.

Thank you so much for your friendship over the years. It means a lot to me.

Have left a review for you. *Heart*
I am so sorry for your loss! I just finished reading it and I have no edits whatsoever. It flows beautifully and is a full journey from start to finish. May her beautiful soul watch over you and your family and guard you as you pass her wisdom along.
Angels in my Ear This is beautiful! So full of love and appreciation with a bit of humor...I loved it!

I saw a couple of typos that won't matter if you are giving it orally. I saw one spot to make a bit of humor work even better (at least in my opinion). I don't know if I am too late (I picked a lousy time to take a break from WdC), but I will send that bit of information to you.

My mother died yesterday. Although she had Covid and had been in and out of the hospital it was still a shock. She had a cardiac arrest during the few moments she was home by herself. It was literally only 10 minutes. She had been so upbeat and chipper and it seemed the worst was past us.

But when you look back on the last few weeks, as you always do, you can see the preparations she was making and the tying of loose ends. There are 24 of us in my family including 5 daughters and our children. In the past week or two she has seen or heard from everyone of them. My sisters and father were all around her as she floated away.

I truly have a new angel in my ear. But she had tidied before I knew it. Hold your loved ones close this season. Your family, no matter your relationship status are your angels on earth
My condolences. Death is always a shock, even if expected. Sending you healing thoughts. *Butterflyv*
I'm so sorry, Aundria. I lost my Dad in April. It wasn't to COVID, but because of that cursed virus, we weren't able to gather and be with Mom when she needed her family the most.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers my friends. A while back I wrote a piece about my mother and the lessons she taught me. Now that she’s gone it needs some revision and a little more detail. I plan to read it at her funeral next week. I’d love it if you took a look at it and let me know if you have any comments or her revisions you think would be helpful

Aw, congratulations Aundria! What fabulous news! Do we get to see any photos of the new grandbaby?
Congrats

Hello all my friends. I’ve missed talking to you all but my life has been really crazy and my writing has taken a hiatus. There are a lot of changes in my life. My 22-year-old daughter is pregnant and expecting my first grandchild. I’m so excited! Everyone says it’s the best and I can’t wait for this new phase of my life.

I miss being involved in the community and want to think all of you who have continued my contest traditions and have helped keep me in the loop. I keep saying I will come back and then life gets in the way again. But I want all of you to know how much I’m thinking of you my dear b friends

I’m going to resolve that I will check in at least once or twice a week going forward. Once you go away for a while you find that everything has changed in the absence. But please feel free to send an email if you’d like to. I promise I am checking in and will be from now on

As I'm sure you've all noticed I've been inactive for quite a while. My 22 year old daughter has had a difficult year as she has come out as bi-sexual and moved into her own apartment this year. She also has the blessing of being a sensitive and can feel the feelings of those around her, alive or dead.

Due to all of these changes she attempted suicide in January and it's taken a lot of my energy and attention to help her through her recovery. However, part of that recovery has been to write a book with her using her experiences. I've posted our first 2 chapters if anyone is interested in reading it. I've put a rating of 18+ due to languange and topic but I'm not sure if I should lower it. Anyhow, any feedback would be great.

AUNDRIA! My friend, my mentor, I miss you! I hope your daughter is okay. What a thing to have to work her way through. I will def take a look at your item.
Elle  Author Icon
So sorry to hear that you and your daughter have been through such an awful time, Aundria. I hope you're both recovering and things are looking up.
Good to have you back. All my love to you and your family. Your daughter is courageous. Keep encouraging her to be no one but herself.

Hi everybody. Look, I'm still alive. Once again I've been gone too long. I've had a lot of family issues keeping me away, though that isn't an excuse.

My oldest daughter suffers from social and general anxiety, depression, and ADD. She is also a cutter. Recently we nearly lost her when she became suicidal. It's only by God's grace that we were able to discover it in time and get her admitted to the hospital. But she came out a new person and is moving into an apartment with a friend for the first time. So things are looking up and I hope to get back into the swing of things.

Thanks to those of you who still think of me. Some of my closest friends are here at WDC and I hope to keep it that way.
Welcome back hon.
I am very sad you have been through that kind of ordeal. I hope from the bottom of my heart your life would turn for better.
Elle  Author Icon
How awful for all of you! Glad to hear she's in a good space right now. *Heart*

I know everyone probably thinks I've dropped off the face of the earth. I suppose I have as far as this site goes. I promise I'm still around but due to events in the last 6 months I've felt especially uninspired to write. I'm sorry I've abandoned and ignored this site for so long and hope to reconnect with everyone once things start falling back into place. Thanks to my friends who still think of me.
Take care, Aundria. We've missed you and look forward to your return (when you are able). *Heart* *Hug*
Hey all, I fear I must apologize for having disappeared so long. I just realized it has been nearly 3 months since I signed on last! Situations in my life have left my writing a little lacking and my muse has apparently taken a VERY LONG nap. Let's hope that as things begin to stabilize, I'll find her again, That's the hope anyway. But I am hearing her, albeit very faintly an I'm hoping she begins to sing again.

But I want to offer a sincere thank you to those of you (and you know who you are) that have been holding down the fort and picking up my slack. I've missed all of my wonderful friends and hope to get back into the swing of things soon.

Thanks and love you all!
Miss seeing you here, Aundria! Hope all is well with you and your family.
Welcome back, hon. Is everything alright?
