I am in a quandary. I have three characters with the same letter for their name. I don't like doing that but it just happened that way. I am not wanting to create new characters or change the current character's names. I have Dean Lysander, Danny MacDonald, and Daryl Onoconda. I can create nicknames for two of them I suppose. Dean Lysander has been called "lys" or "lice" but that is a derogatory nickname he has had since grade school and he absolutely hates it, it makes him extremely hot-headed when someone refers to him as "lice".
What about using first and middle name initials?

Keep Dean Lysander the same since you are mentioning the nickname.
You could change Danny to Lanny (short for Lawrence), and Daryl to Meryl? So they're kind of the same, but different.
I am taking part in the October Novel Prep Challenge and I could use some help with Oct. 05: - Plot: Climax (Where is the story going?). Anyone out there able to explain this assignment? What is exactly needs to be done? Is it supposed to be a brainstorming event or a summary?
I assume brainstorming the story and climax of it with the What if... stuff. It's where I realized my story doesn't have a climax. *Shock2* Yeah, I'm going to need to rethink some things... *Think*

Here's a little information I found on the net. The CLIMAX of the story is when the CONFLICT of the PLOT is resolved.It is often the most exciting part of the story: when the hero saves the princess, discovers the buried treasure, or slays the dragon. Imagine when you read a story that you are climbing up a mountainside. The CLIMAX is the mountain peak.

You're almost done with OctoPrep, so I think you've figured things out!

Is there a flash fiction prompt around here? I see flash fiction postings, so want to know if there are daily flash fiction prompts posted somewhere.

Check out The 300 Word Flash-Fiction contest. They post a new prompt every day. I’ve written multiple stories for it and it is a great way to learn the difference between the important words that tell your story and the fluff words we add because we like the sound of them. And there are some very good writers who read them and offer excellent advice. All in all, one of the better contests to enter.
As others have mentioned, the Daily Flash Fiction contest is your best place for fiction under 300 words. The prompt changes daily. Be sure to read the rules carefully.

Does anyone use Notion? I have just found it and it looks useful. I am wondering if anyone has any templates they are willing to share.
Never heard of it, but let us know if you decide to try it. *Smile*
I have installed it on my laptop, PC, and tablet. I like it a lot. I am trying to learn the best way to use it. Do a google search for Notion. You will find it. I am using the free version. I have downloaded a couple of templates but I would prefer customizing my own.

Needing some inspiration on developing my character(s). I am having trouble fully developing my protagonist. Searching the internet hasn't helped much either.
Are you a part of www.NaNoWriMo.org for National Novel Writing Month (November)? They have Adoption Society threads where people post ideas for all sorts of things, depending on the thread. I go there for inspiration sometimes. Though maybe search How to Create a Character if you aren't sure what's missing. Maybe deep down you recognize a problem you can't put your finger on and a checklist or something might help. But I always recommend the NaNo website Adoption Society area for inspiration. I hope this helps!
