Journal of a Spaced-Out Brain -poetry-

Kites adorn the atmosphere,
They fly high though tethered here,
Distance makes them disappear,
Do they feel the pain of fear?

If kites fear to fly too high,
Why do they identify,
As a toy, do they comply,
With peer pressure we supply?

If kites don't find what they seek,
If they learned, like me, to freak,
At altitude, would they speak,
In truths masked by tongue in cheek?

Sacrifice
Your sins
For the good
Of one and all concerned
It's you who knows better than anyone else
In the darkness of your secret room, turn away from your evil ways

Flesh
Will whither
Return to dust
Bone turns again to stone
It's better if one should cry at night
Than to suffer in lost spirit the torturous punishment of hellfire for eternity

Heaven
Is God
God is love
Therefore heaven is also love
And true love knows no tears or fear
Only the true love of an all-powerful creator can restore us to perfection

A plant must develop roots to grow a flower

Wondering what's wrong, I couldn't see,
Why I lusted for my female cousin,
Until on the day I turned forty-three,
I overheard a strange rumor buzzin',
That my parents had secretly adopted me,
And their eggs, not mine, were short of a dozen.

My first love offered her virginity,
But I fearfully declined,
Not wanting to spoil her purity,
So she gave away what was mine.
Now, as I lie here dying,
It's for this I'm still crying.

She tortures me from distant memory,
Her bright eyes smiling at passing men,
I sat like a dog and worshipped her beauty,
I'll die, having never known her true love.
