Being Retired now, I thought that it was time for a new name to this Blog

Talk about perks, my career had one of the best I can think of! I traveled in the course of business, delivering classes for my employer. I was a Senior Training Specialist for Motorola Solutions, and taught classes on a wide variety of subjects centered around 2-way radio communications. I knew that when the time arrived that I would retire, and I have. I've always said that if you can't stand the heat in the kitchen, get out! I can't handle the heat anymore. I was qualified to deliver approximately 32 different classes, but about half of those were 'Legacy' classes, and were not in demand anymore. My students were technicians, those who maintained, programmed, calibrated, and repaired large 2-way radio systems. Some of these systems are statewide, and use TCP-IP networking to allow sites to communicate with others. Some are small, traditional type radio sites. The size doesn't matter, in each case the systems must be kept operational at all times, since many of them are Public Safety Systems. So I traveled, sometimes frequently, 3-4 weeks in a row.... where have I been?

Some of the places I've been (I can't list them all here, the list would be too long) are pretty interesting.

         1. Hawaii - Four times, Oahu, Maui (twice), and the Big Island
         2. BangkokThailand, twice
         3. Frankfurt Germany, twice
         4. Algiers, Algeria
         5. Melbourne Australia
         6. Bismarck North Dakota, Summer & Winter
         7. Los Angeles, Too many times to count
         8. Washington DC, Too many times to count
         9. Seattle three or four times
         10. Texas, all over the state
         11. Florida, all over the state
         12. New Mexico, HOME! Several times

A New Day Dawns For Me

Well, it's a new day, especially for me. Why? Well, in the BBS (BBS=Before Back Surgery), I could do little as far as working around the house here. I couldn't take Buddy for a walk because I had no idea how long or far I could go before starting to limp like crazy. I couldn't even wash dishes without taking a break, even if there weren't many to do. Sometimes, going shopping with Kathy was tough, my back would ache, I'd have trouble walking (pain in my left hip and knee), even pushing the grocery cart didn't help.

This morning though, I had things I wanted to get done. There was a 5 lb bag of Chicken Chunks that we purchased from My Pet Carnivore some time ago that needed to be sorted and cut up. That really needed to get done. I started and finished it, without a break! I cut the chunks into smaller pieces because some were pretty large. There was even a complete Chicken Leg in the bag. I ended up putting that, and a few other pieces into a zip-lock bag to be used in making Bone Broth. Our dogs love that stuff.

After that was done and the area thoroughly cleaned, I thought I'd make up Breakfast Taco's. Yummmm. I made us 5 of them using a small kit we recently bought. There was enough fixin's left for 4-5 more, but not enough tortilla's in the kit. I said to myself, 'The heck with that', and pulled out our Carb Balance tortilla's and made 5 more. Those I stored in the fridge for the next few days breakfast. During all this, my back never alerted me that I w as in pain! How nice is that? Now, I have a old fashioned back ache, something I haven't had in years!

Yesterday there was an Estate Sale in nearby Peoria. I managed to grab two item I really wanted. I've included a photo below. The first is the Gargoyle, which came with the stand, The other one is not the freezer, it's the cane/stool next to it. Folded down, it works like a cane. IF you're in one spot and need a small place to sit, it can be unfolded to make a small stool. I was loaned one when I went to the Balloon Fiesta last month and loved it. Getting this one was a no-brainer, especially since we (my other half) can use it when needed. She bought other things, but I wanted these two items most.
