| Invited in my first year English class to major in English, I declined and continued with the sciences. After returning for a degree in education, I took a correspondence course in non-fiction writing and sold most of the lesson assignments. A second course in fiction writing three decades later did not go quite so well, though I have had four stories (one an Honorable Mention) and one poem published in Canadian anthologies. | My goal is clear, readable prose. Editors seem to like that kind of stuff. But I struggle with plot. |
| Electronics, robotics, dancing (square, social, and ballroom), reading, cycling, and anything that catches my fancy. |
|
| Action; some SF, some mystery; I like Dean Koontz's multi-genre stuff. |
| Clan of the Cave Bear, Valley of the Horses, The Mammoth Hunters by Jean Auel; Intensity and Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz; Andre Norton's work. |
| Richard Cornwell, Dean Koontz, Dick Francis, old SF (nobody literary) |
| Robert Frost, Robert Service |
| Rejections are the whetstone on which a writer hones his craft ~ Original "...Strong plotting can cover many sins, while strong writing can't redeem a lifeless plot." ~ Max Griffin on WdC |
