Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
Ceremony is a hard rock CD by the English band The Cult. Blending Native American motifs with the rebellious and individualistic attitude of rock and roll, Ceremony delivers a consistent, pleasant menu of "good old fashioned" four-beat rock and roll
This type of CDs & Vinyl is good for...
This is a great CD for driving, it's beat and unique vocals keeping the listener in an upbeat, energetic mood. On the other hand, it is also good for contemplative listening. Some of the themes that are discussed are true to many people, not just younger fans of rock and roll.
I especially liked... | ||
The opening track is the title track, and it grabs the listener from the beginning. Native American chanting slowly gives way to Billy Duffy's signature guitar sound. Ian Astbury's unique voice completes the ensemble, with the song following a moderate beat with driving drums and a easily remembered lead guitar riff. It sets the mood for the entire album.
I didn't like... | ||
The song Bangkok Rain did not sit well with me. It just didn't seem to fit the overall theme of the album. It's not a bad song in and of itself, but it feels like it was added because they just "needed another song" to complete the set.
When I finished n/a this CDs & Vinyl I wanted to...
After listening to this album, I was inspired to write some poetry of my own and to share it with a group of friends. The slower pieces put one in a creative mood, and the faster songs give one energy. The overall theme of coming together to celebrate, to share, to exist, is simply inspiring. It put me immediately in a creative, collaborative frame of mind.
This CDs & Vinyl made me feel...
I was very inspired by this album--creatively and philosophically. It made me feel okay about being the rock and roll kid was usually on the outside of everything; it felt somehow inclusive, and I wanted to share it with people to include them in this...well, in this new Ceremony I had discovered.
The n/a of this CDs & Vinyl...
The album cover for this album fits perfectly, but caused a lot of turmoil and inconvenience for the band. The photograph of the young Native American boy was not authorized and uncompensated (even though the picture was decades old by then). A multimillion dollar lawsuit ensued, further distracting an already unstable musical unit.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes hard rock. It can't be classified as heavy metal or punk; it's just straight-forward rock and roll. It brings a good, invigorating energy and leaves the listener feeling refreshed but thoughtful.
Further Comments... | ||
It's a shame that this album did poorly commercially. In my opinion, it easily stands tall among their more celebrated works. Although a departure from such classics as She Sells Sanctuary and Love Removal Machine, this demonstrates a creative stretch for two very talented musicians. The cohesiveness of (mos of) the album is all the more impressive considering that the band was very unstable and used several different session artists to complete the recording.
