The Masks We Wear

why do we wear them?

i sit in my room thinking
why-
why do we protect ourselves by hiding ourselves
why do we pretend to be something were not
why is it that everyday i wake up and think
here we go again
why do people wear masks?
when will it end
will it ever stop
are my friends attracted to the mask or to me
will they ever know the real me

next time your sitting and have nothing to do
just think
how did i make this mask?
did it just happen over night
why do i wear it
is it to keep something in
or to keep someone from getting in

what ever it is you should consider
taking it off sometime and
letting someone see what is underneth
all the darkness
the pain
and maybe just maybe you will find
that it is good to have it off
and just show your true self
