Once again alone I sit

Though I have walked on roses
Now I tread through thorns
It is the life I know
Hidden away from uncaring eyes

I am still the clown

My smile painted
Though often faded
Always visible
Unknown to all
What lies within

My words are truth

If you look closely
You can see
Though sometimes incoherent
Seen as babbles
As though written
Through a madman’s eye
They are me

There is always hope

Maybe one day
I will escape
The many scars
Of past lives
To once again flirt
With future pain

I am after all
Only human
