ONE MORE PROMISE

ONE MORE PROMISE

One more promise made to myself
as New Year bells begin to chime;
This year I'll not sit in an empty nest,
missing these offspring of mine!

I've watched my children grow
to be fine young women and men,
and if I had the chance, well -
I would gladly do it all again.

We shared all the good times
and the bad times took their toll,
but the laughter and the kidding
always kept us on a steady roll.

Now while they are out living
and testing out their wings -
I plan to fill my "empty nest"
with a lot of other things!

All the things I planned to do
"if I just only had the time" -
are things that don't have to wait,
The New Year, at last, is MINE!
