FARMING'S IN MY BLOOD I know the school bus is waiting but I've got watering to do, Gramp said it hadn't rained in days and doesn't look like any's due. Pop worked the fields all spring and planted these rows in mud, Trusting God to make it grow - you see, farming's in my blood. Once it grows and is ready to market down in town, Pop says we'll have 'nuf money if they keep the taxes down. If we keep food on the table An' a roof over our heads, Maybe someday we'll all rest upon our lumpy beds. Dog-gone bus is honking An' I know I'd better go, Good thing I started early an' this is the last row! I love the fields and sunshine! Wouldn't change life if I could - Well, maybe I'd not plant as much an' concentrate on splittin' wood! The sheep are in the meadow, an' the cow is chewin' her cud; Give me some old overalls - Cuz' farming's in my blood! Countrymom 9/11/04 Written for the Send Sherri Snickering Contest |
