Ponderings by Jesus before His passion |
| Let the tree remain unfelled, Its grain untried; Let hands stay idle for a time. Let the torches dance on by; Stay the kiss. Leave the gold within the coffers And rope unstrung. Give them mirth in other games, Leaving crowns to children’s play. Let hands remain unwashed for now, And lash unused. No word need be spoken yet Of judgment given, Freedom gained. Streets need not be spectacle Of parade; Let the tears remain Unshed. The cry is lost As He embraces wood; It embraces Him; For deeper calls “Thy Will, Thy Will, Not mine!” |
