A spoof/twist/add-on to Emily Dickinson's famous poem |
| We never know how high we are Till we are asked to rise And then if we are true to plan Our statures touch the skies- The Heroism we recite Would be a normal thing Did not ourselves the Cubits warp For fear to be a King- -Emily Dickinson We never know how high we are Until we look around And then if we are true to form Our stomach hits the ground- The Heroism we recite Is shut up really quick 'Cause sometimes we get nerve attacks And pressure makes us sick- So when we know how high we are And we are asked to rise Don't panic or be faint of heart! Set your sights on the prize! The nervousness we sometimes get Is just a normal thing But those who deal and still win it- It's they who will be King. -Athena26 |
