Close encounters within the enchanted realm of the fae. |
| Twas once upon a Midsummer's Eve when the moon was full and bright, that I perchanced upon a scene of magickal delight Whilst resting 'neath a great oak tree gazing at the sky, strains of panpipes teased my ears from a wooded glade nearby I slowly crept toward the sound and peeked from 'hind a tree then, gasped in sheer amazement at the sight that greeted me Faeries, elves and pixies too danced and sang with glee, and feasted on the ripened fruit of the sweetest cherry tree Mesmerised, I stood quite still in wild anticipation, was it real or was it just a child's imagination? The haunting music sang to me, "Come and join us now" And venturing toward the host stepped on a fallen bough All at once they stilled with fright eyes cold with icy fear, then one by one as they took flight I watched them disappear My heartfelt pleas fell to the floor of this now lonely space, that was, a fleeting moment before a wondrous, enchanted place On faerie days I leave a gift to show that I believe, And hope, perhaps, they will return, next Midsummer's Eve |
