Poem I wrote for a dragon contest |
| Above the sky, beneath the sea Beyond the dreams of you and me Far more than any man can see The dragon lies in wait Her polished scales gently flow - Sprayed red on deep dark indigo - They burn with heat no man can know The dragon lies in wait Her eyes contain the burning bright That lights up every day and night Yet no man sees what gives him sight The dragon lies in wait With every shudder in her sleep With every harsh stamp of her feet Earth heaves, and man-made structures leap The dragon lies in wait To molten rock of worlds today The sun and moon and each one's ray The quake to which all things give way To you the dragon gives her fate |
