Are we destroying ourselves? |
| An Ode on Extinction A fire burns in the ancient forest ~ Smoke floats to heaven Choking the gods, Bringing tears to their eyes and Echoes of voices which will never be heard again; Waves crash on long-forgotten shores ~ Filth-laden spray Carrying slow death, Silencing creatures of the deep and Glimmers of mystery which will never be seen again; I am the wind sighing through leafy treetops where my children sing, I am the river running through forgotten canyons where my ancient ancestors dwelled, I am the voice of the voiceless ~ Hear my cry! Whispers of sorrow float on the winds of the world, Ten thousand hearts cry for shades of beauty which will never be seen again. Sage Lucinda BugBug Milliken August 2003 Catuary by the Sea |
