Ordinary Girl

Everyone wears a mask at sometime or another.

She spends hours getting ready in the morning.
Getting ready for what?
Carefully placing each color
onto a different plane on her face.
Steeling herself like a soldier for war,
she constructs lines with eyeliner
and fakes happiness with blush.
Without her foundation, she would crumble
into a powdery mass of insecurity.
Ready for another day at work.
