A tribute to Slim Dusty - a country singer from Australia who died today

RIVER OF TEARS

There's a river of tears flowing
In the land that we call "Oz"
For a man who gave us music
And was equal to the cause.

Slim Dusty passed away today,
The news came 'cross the sea,
He may be gone but he lives on
In my heart, for the memory

Of music of the outback, and
The 'roo that gave us a smile;
For the songs that he gave us,
I'd walk a country mile.

He'd step up to the microphone
And his voice rang loud and clear
He looked us straight in the eye
And sang "The Pub With No Beer"!

His words and music touched
The hearts of many of us here,
His songs could bring laughter
And sometimes bring a tear.

He was the greatest country singer
That Australia came to know;
He bid us all "Hello and goodbye"
But we never thought he'd go.

Somewhere up in Heaven
He'll see the Lights on the Hill.
There God will welcome home a son
And he'll be singing still.

So from a little spot in the USA
I just want you to understand
That I feel your loss and if I could
I'd be there to hold your hand.
