A poem I wrote for a competition, about a mother and daughter parting. |
| As the morning dew drops from my window My tears match those outside As I watch her slowly walk away God's tears and mine coincide As the morning sun begins to trickle through I see it dance upon her hair As I watch her glance around It's nearly more than I can bear As the morning brought a daughter years ago I had a joyful song in my heart As I watched her then, I never knew How cruelly we would part As the early birds begin to sing My heart rebels against the song For my song today is a different tune I ponder what went wrong As I hear children come out to play I wish we could turn back the clock Back to childhood innocence Where love could not be lost As I watch her disappear from sight My heart pleads with her not to go But words are harsh, and she can't see my tears As the morning dew drops from my window. |
