Looking back on our life together,
All the good and all the bad,
I have gained an understanding
Of the troubles that we had.

You believed a man was the boss
Of his home and his family.
You ruled with an iron fist
That led to tragedy.

There was hatred in your heart
That lasted through our years;
I left behind the memory of love,
Those were yesterday's tears

Time has a way of healing
And tears don't last forever;
Understanding you had problems
That hatred couldn't sever.

I hated some of the things you did
That tortured me through the years;
Life changes, and we all go on
