YESTERDAY WAS MINE I had studied long and hard my history book last night, then my eyes closed and sleep came With a dream full of pure delight! I was transported back in time, to the days of long ago when living was so simple and the pace was really slow. I walked on streets of cobblestone and marveled at the sights; The streets were lit by lamplight, brightening up the night. The clothes that the people wore were nothing like those of today. All the dresses were ankle length and the bustles made them sway. Men wore suits of a dark hue and shirts with a frilly collar; All the stores had signs of sales, nothing cost over a dollar! There were no cars or buses, no motorcycles and no plane; I wondered if the "quiet" ever drove them a bit insane. Yet folks were friendly as could be, there were curtseys and a nod; I made new friends back in yesterday as on the cobblestone streets I trod. The ringing of my alarm clock forced me to come back in time; but for just a little while - yesterday - was mine! Countrymom |
